Benchmark Scoring

All indicators are scored from 0 to 5 to provide global comparisons across different cities.

Benchmark scoring distributes across a bell-like curve for 445 cities globally in 2013.

Definitions

2thinknow defined these indicators in 2009, based on research process dating to 2005. Analysts preparing the final 3 factors scores of the Innovation Cities™ Indexes have consulted these same City Indicators data since 2009 (2008-2007 indexes based on a more subjective preliminary method).

The methodology of the indicators has been progressing in complexity since then, with analysts making significant changes regularly to further refine the indicators against a larger data set of cities.

Data

All indicators contain quantitative and qualitative data that is sourced to over 5000 sources.

Rationale

For a detailed explanation of the rationale of the indicators, order this report.
